This week on the THO 100, venerable band R.E.M. have huge debut at #24 with "Supernatural Superserious." It is their 18th hit on the THO chart, which dates back to 1993. Before that, R.E.M. had many hit songs on top 40 and modern rock radio stations. They are credited with being one of the first "alternative" rock bands, and were a staple artist of college radio stations starting with their first single release in 1981.
