THO 100 for week ending February 27, 2010

The new THO 100 chart has been published and Lady GaGa breaks the record for most consecutive weeks at #1 with her smash "Bad Romance." The previous record of 15 weeks was shared by Cher's "Believe" (1999) and Madonna's "You'll See" (1995-1996). If you are sick of Miss GaGa, don't blame me... the THO 100 chart is based on personal charts found all over the web, including discussion groups and personal web sites. "Bad Romance" still has a healthy lead over #2 "Tik Tok," so another week or two at #1 is not unlikely. It is GaGa's third number one song, following "Just Dance" and "Poker Face." THO has a poll to vote on the best Lady GaGa songs, and "Bad Romance" had an early lead, not surprisingly.

THO 100 for week ending February 20, 2010

How many albums released in 2008 are still producing hits? Not very many, but Pink's "Funhouse" is one of them. This week "Glitter In The Air," the last track on the album debuts on the THO 100 at #76. She performed the song at the Grammy Awards and has since picked up enough radio airplay to add to its popularity. "Glitter" is Pink's 23rd THO hit. We've created a poll for Pink songs, cause with so many hits we're curious as to which are the lasting favorites of music fans. What, did you think we were going to go on and on about Lady GaGa matching the record for most weeks at #1 with "Bad Romance"? We'll save most of that for next week, when the record will likely be broken.

THO 100 for week ending February 6, 2010

With no big radio hits coming out of the United States last week, most of the new entries on the THO 100 come from songs that are UK hits. Leading the way is Sugababes with their latest single "Wear My Kiss." The Sugababes are no stranger to the chart, having previously charted 21 singles in the top 100 with seven of those in the top 10. Also debuting on the chart this week are UK hitmakers Amy MacDonald, Calvin Harris, Gabriella Cilmi, and JLS. Next week we'll need to analyze Lady GaGa's attempt to tie and possibly break the THO record for most weeks at #1 for a song. This week marks number 13 and the record is 15 weeks on top.
