THO 100 Update for the week ending June 6, 2009

It's not everyday that a female-led rock band reaches the upper regions of the THO 100. But this week the Yeah Yeah Yeahs break into the top 10 with their hit "Zero." It is actually their fourth THO hit, following "Maps" (2004), "Gold Lion" (2006) and "Turn Into" (2006). "Gold Lion" was their previous highest-charting song, reaching #15. Female solo artists usually reach much higher levels of overall popularity, and this weeks' chart is a shining example of that. Seven of the top 10 singles are from female solo artists. Green Day's "Know Your Enemy" is the only band/artist in the top 10 with a male singer.
