THO 100 Update for week ending August 1, 2009

Not surprisingly, the Black Eyed Peas take over the #1 position on the THO 100 this week. "I Gotta Feeling" has been the top song on the Billboard Hot 100 for a few weeks now, and the song's popularity has been spreading through the rest of the world. This week it ends David Guetta's run at the top with "When Love Takes Over" (featuring Kelly Rowland). "Love" was #1 for four weeks. Just prior to that, it was the Black Eyed Peas who sat in the top spot for five weeks with "Boom Boom Pow." "Boom" and "Love" are the Peas' only number one songs, although they've had four other songs reach the top five, starting with "Where Is The Love" in 2003. Will their current #1 last as long as "Boom Boom Pow" did? We think it probably will, because after Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," it will take a few weeks for other songs' popularity to rise to the same level. But we'll see what happens...

THO 100 Update for week ending July 25, 2009

The biggest debut this week comes from probably the smallest performer on the chart. She is definitely not known for her height, but Shakira packs one of the biggest voices, especially on this weeks' THO 100. Her latest single, "She Wolf," debuts at #52, easily in front of other debuts by Chicane, The Arctic Monkeys, Colbie Caillat, All-American Rejects, and Sugababes.

At the top of the chart, David Guetta holds on for another week at #1 with "When Love Takes Over" (featuring Kelly Rowland). Although we don't know exactly what will happen, most bets are on Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield" or the Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" becoming the new #1 song. "Feeling" is the charts' largest point gainer this week.

THO 100 Update for the week ending July 18, 2008

This week on the THO 100, David Guetta holds off all challengers to retain the #1 position. "When Love Takes Over" (featuring Kelly Rowland) will spend its 3rd week atop the chart. One of the challengers is UK pop sensation La Roux, with their single "Bulletproof." Music fans don't seem to mind singer Elly Jackson's crazy hair, as the song moves from #5 to #4 and has a serious shot at reaching #1 next week. At least three other songs are capable of being #1 in the coming weeks, including Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," Lady GaGa's "Paparazzi," and Linkin Park's "New Divide." Enjoy the chart this week!

THO 100 Update for the week ending July 11, 2009

This week on the THO 100, David Guetta holds on to the top position with "When Love Takes Over" (featuring Kelly Rowland). The song has already peaked in Europe, but is still gaining airplay in the United States. The most likely contenders to take over #1 in the coming weeks: Jordin Sparks, Linkin Park, and The Black Eyed Peas. Ciara (pictured) has the highest debut on the new chart, coming in at #65 with "Work." If not for Ciara's new hit, the highest debut would have been "Man In The Mirror" by Michael Jackson. A lot of personal chart-makers have been charting Michael Jackson songs, and "Man" is the most popular. "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" just missed making the chart as well.

Top Songs of 2008...So Far

There are still about 15 weeks left in 2008, but the top songs of the year are starting to shape up. Through TopHitsOnline's September 6th chart, Leona Lewis led with "Bleeding Love," which just left the chart after a 48-week run. Rihanna has two songs in the top 10, and that doesn't even include her current #1 hit "Disturbia." Once again this year, it looks like the year-end top songs will be dominated by female artists, which you'll see from the list below:

1. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
2. OneRepublic - Stop And Stare
3. Sara Bareilles - Love Song
4. Duffy - Mercy
5. Jordin Sparks f/ Chris Brown - No Air
6. Madonna f/ Justin Timberlake - 4 Minutes
7. Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music
8. Rihanna - Take A Bow
9. Britney Spears - Piece Of Me
10. Mariah Carey - Touch My Body

THO 100 Update for the week ending April 26, 2008

This week on the THO 100, Jordin Sparks' duet with Chris Brown, "No Air," accomplishes something her lead single "Tattoo" could not do: reach the top 10. "No Air" moves from #15 to #8 on the new chart. "Tattoo" peaked at #11 last month. Also on the chart this week, Madonna's "4 Minutes" (featuring Justin Timberlake) widens its lead at #1 over fellow divas Mariah Carey and Britney Spears. This song's stay at the top could be a long one...

THO 100 Update for the week ending March 8, 2008

The THO 100 has been updated for the week ending March 8th. It's a fifth, and probably last week at #1 for Rihanna's smash hit "Don't Stop The Music." That's because OneRepublic's "Stop And Stare" moves up to #2 just barely behind Rihanna. Chris Brown is the only new entry into the top 10, but there are several new entries into the top 40 including R.E.M., Girls Aloud, Mariah Carey, MGMT, and Jordin Sparks. There are also 10 new entries into the top 100 this week.
